Installing GEOtop precompiled packages on GNU/Linux

THIS GUIDE IS WORK IN PROGRESS! Every type of feedback will be appreciate and will be very useful for me.

Installing precompiled packages on GNU/Linux is rather easy.

NOW TO INSTALL GEOtop AND ITS DEPENDENCIES YOU HAVE TO INSTALL ONLY ONE PACKAGE!

  • REMINDER: GEOtop had been built against MeteoIO, so the geotop.inpts of your working directory has to be properly set. To get an example, you can see small_example from the Official GEOtop Examples Repository

DEBIAN-derived distributions

Ubuntu 32 bit

TESTED ON UBUNTU 14.04

You can download the GEOtop package from Official GEOtop packages Repository, clicking on it and then on View Raw.

To install it ==> Double click on GEOtop_mio-2.0.1-i386.deb and follow the instructions.

Now to use GEOtop, type

$ geotop .

inside the working directory.

To uninstall GEOtop and its dependencies:

$ sudo apt-get remove geotop
$ sudo apt-get autoremove

Ubuntu 64 bit

TESTED ON UBUNTU 14.04

You can download the GEOtop package from Official GEOtop packages Repository, clicking on it and then on View Raw.

To install it ==> Double click on GEOtop_mio-2.0.1-amd64.deb and follow the instructions.

Now to use GEOtop, type

$ geotop .

inside the working directory.

To uninstall GEOtop and its dependencies:

$ sudo apt-get remove geotop
$ sudo apt-get autoremove

Debian 32 bit

TESTED ON DEBIAN 8.1.0 stable

You can download the GEOtop package from Official GEOtop packages Repository, clicking on it and then on View Raw.

To install it, open a terminal, change directory to the folder you have downloaded the package and then:

# install GEOtop
$ sudo dpkg -i GEOtop_mio-2.0.1-i386.deb

# dependencies not satisfied so the following
# command will install every dependency and
# GEOtop as well
$ sudo apt-get install -f

Now to use GEOtop, type

$ geotop .

inside the working directory.

To uninstall GEOtop and its dependencies:

$ sudo apt-get remove geotop
$ sudo apt-get autoremove

 

Debian 64 bit

TESTED ON DEBIAN 8.1.0 stable

You can download the GEOtop package from Official GEOtop packages Repository, clicking on it and then on View Raw.

To install it, open a terminal, change directory to the folder you have downloaded the package and then:

# install GEOtop
$ sudo dpkg -i GEOtop_mio-2.0.1-amd64.deb

# dependencies not satisfied so the following
# command will install every dependency and
# GEOtop as well
$ sudo apt-get install -f

Now to use GEOtop, type

$ geotop .

inside the working directory.

To uninstall GEOtop and its dependencies:

$ sudo apt-get remove geotop
$ sudo apt-get autoremove
